Obituary for Leo P. Mlekodaj
Leo P. Mlekodaj, age 95, of Knox, passed away at 7:10pm Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Wintersong Village in Knox. Leo was born, the seventh of nine children, on June 28, 1920 in Knox, Indiana to Albert and Josephine (Drwal) Mlekodaj, both deceased. In his early life, he was employed by Linden Poultry Farm, he went on to be the owner of Leo’s Tractor Sales of Knox. He enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing, cutting wood, and working outdoors. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church of Knox. On June 28, 1941, he married Doris Leonard, who preceded him in death. On August 21, 1948 he married Hanna Fukan, she preceded him in death on April 9, 2016. Surviving are four children, Ronald Mlekodaj (Nancy) of Kingston, Tennessee, Nancy Kopchik (James) of Knox, Susan Lambert (Don) of West Lafayette, Indiana, Gary Mlekodaj of Winamac, Indiana. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Mlekodaj and his siblings, Frank Mlekodaj (Ethel), John Mlekodaj, Marie Woodruff (Jack), Anna Mlekodaj, Frances Haynes (James), Jean Prchlik (Jospeph), Lillian Beck (Lester), Stanley Mlekodaj (Aileen), and Helen Sellers (Don). Visitation will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 10:00am (CT) at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox.
