Obituary for Emalen "Granny" Howard
Emalen "Granny" Howard, age 84, of Knox, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at her home. She was born August 7, 1931 in South Fork, Kentucky to Enos Hardin, Sr. and Laura Davidson Hardin, both deceased. On September 8, 1951, in Jackson, Kentucky, she married Sam Howard, he preceded her in death on March 19, 1992. She is survived by her daughters, Hazel Campbell (the late Roger) of North Judson and Rhoda Howard of Knox, she was preceded in death by her son, Enos Howard (Linda). She also survived by two sisters, Hattie Marshall of Boston, KY and Martha Hardin of South Fork, KY, four granddaughters, Jami Dean (James) of Knox, Christee Hadley (Jason) of North Judson, Amanda Richie (Mick) of Monterey, and Betty Trent (Randy) of North Judson, a great granddaughter, Anna Trent of North Judson, great grandsons, Nathan Boyd Dean of Knox, Chance Trent of North Judson, and Dakota and Christopher Kalb of French Lick, IN, and one great grandson on the way Noah James, and a great great grandson, Karson Kalb. She was preceded in death by a great grandson and 11 brothers and sisters, Ina Prater, Sylvia Calhoun, Druzella Hardin, Beddie Hardin, Mary Hardin, Earl, Mervin, Elmer, Roger, Lewis and Enos Hardin, Jr. She was born again on June 6, 1966 along with her husband, Sam and Chalmer and Stellie Howard. She was a founding member of the Free United Baptist Church and the Secretary of their Ladies Club. Visitation will be Friday, November, 20, 2015 from 4-8pm (ct) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11:00am (ct) at the Free United Baptist Church, located at Hwy 39 and Toto Rd. Interment will take place at Highland Cemetery in North Judson.
