Obituary for Marguerite Heise Bailey
Marguerite Heise Bailey, age 98, of Bass Lake, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 at home. She was born January 29, 1917 in Dowagiac, Michigan to Frederick and Phoebe Mae (Garbrick) Troupe, both deceased. She has a long history in the Bass Lake area, first as a farm wife, working the family farm raising pickles with her first husband Edward, she then took a job as an inspector at the Kingsbury Ordinance Plant, then for several years, she and Edward owned and operated the Crystal Ball Room Roller Rink at Bass Lake, then the Melody Drive-In Theatre. After selling the Melody Drive-In to her son and daughter-in-law, she worked for many years at American Home Foods in LaPorte, after retiring there, she returned to the Melody Drive-In ticket booth. She is survived by her children, Edward F. Heise (Doris) of Knox, Marjorie Ahlenius of Knox, Raymond Heise (Barbara) of Seminole, FL, Fred Heise (Louise) of Knox, Rudy Heise (Norma) of Monterey, and Richard Heise (Carol) of Santa Barbara, CA, a sister, Dorothy Walker of Oak Lawn, IL, 30 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren, and 30 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Edward Heise and Sam Bailey, four grandchildren, and brothers, Charles, Joseph, Elmer and Norman Troupe, and a sister, Madeline Troupe. Visitation will be Sunday, February 8, 2015 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, February 9, 2015 at 11:00am (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Bass Lake Cemetery.
