Rosemarie Ann Gray Dixon, 78, passed away on January 31, 2015. Rosemarie was born in Oak Park, Illinois on October 24, 1936 the daughter of Howard Lafayette Burd Gray and Rose Frances (Thomas) Gray. After graduating from Jones Commercial High School she married the love of her life, Daniel Dixon on November 6, 1954. Together they created a family with three sons and moved from Evanston, Illinois to Winamac, Indiana in 1966, and then eventually to Knox, Indiana in 1969. The seventies provided Rosemarie with many opportunities. Early in the seventies, she worked for the Bookkeeping Department at Starke Memorial Hospital. After leaving the hospital, she became a staff member for U.S. Congessman, Earl Landgrebe. When Congressman Landgrebe's term ended, Rosemarie started the R.G. Dixon Agency. She was also active in one other business pursuit, Rosemarie, was co-owner along with her husband, of Dixon and Sons Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning. Rosemarie was a devote advocate for individuals who were under served and those who suffered disabilities. She volunteered numerous hours, whether that be attending court hearings, or creating awareness, and promoting the need for group homes throughout the state, which would be maintained within stable neighborhoods. During the 1990's she became the Alternative Sentencing Director for the Starke County Court and served as Starke County's first CASA Advocate (Court Appointed Special Advocate). She is survived by her sons Daniel Michael (Mickey) Dixon of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Brian Patrick (Kathy) Dixon of Knox, Indiana, her daughter-in-law Terri (Wayne) Dixon of South Bend, Indiana, Grandson, Daniel Joseph Dixon of South Bend, Indiana, Granddaughter Tori Renee Dixon of South Bend, Indiana, and her brother, Charles Henry (Judy) DeGroot of Greenwood, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Howard Lafayette Burd Gray II, her husband, Daniel Dixon, and a son, Wayne Martin Dixon. The family has planned private services to celebrate Rosemarie's life and inspiration. Memorial gifts may be given to Anthony Wayne Services of Fort Wayne, Indiana and the Center for Hospice Care in South Bend, Indiana.
