Obituary for Marvin D. Busse
Marvin D. Busse, age 63, of Knox, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at his home. Marv was born September 10, 1951 in LaPorte, Indiana to Gilbert and Eileen (Henricks) Busse, both deceased. Marv had been an electrician and a member of IBEW Local 531, he was an active member of the VFW Men's Auxiliary Post 748 having served as President, was a member of the Knox Moose Lodge, the Knox Jaycees, Mens Bowling League having served as Secretary, had been a member of the Culver Police Dept and the Starke County Sheriff's Reserve, was a founding member of the VFW Scholarship Committee, participated for many years in both Bass Lake and Hamlet Golf Leagues, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved farming. On August 8, 1970, he married Aline Raffel, she survives. Also surviving are his children, Daun Powers (Keith) of Winamac, and Bryan Busse (Kristin) of Knox, his special son, Tony Madsen, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles and Larry Busse. A visitation will take place Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 4-8pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 11:00am (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Day Foundation, PO Box 13, LaPorte, IN 46352. The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the doctors and staff of Michiana Hematology Oncology Cancer Center of Westville, and to the VNA LaPorte Hospice Services.
