Obituary for John W. Cooke Sr.
John W. Cooke, Sr., age 85, of Plymouth, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019. John was born June 1, 1933 in Hammond, Indiana to James H. Cooke and Adaline Stuebe Cooke, both deceased. He was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a fun-loving person who loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he also loved woodworking, fishing, camping and horses. He has spent the last six years at Millers Merry Manor in Plymouth where the staff took excellent care of him and his family. On July 6, 1952 in Corinth, Mississippi, he married his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Laramie Cooke, she survives. Also surviving are his sons, Robert Cooke (Kathy) of Plymouth, Daniel Cooke (Linda) of Florida, David Cooke (Janet) of Walkerton, Gregory Cooke of Florida, and John Cooke Jr. (Cindy) of Plymouth, his daughter in law, Vicki Cooke of Plymouth, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, James L. Cooke, a sister, Juanita Prince, and two grandchildren, David Cooke Jr. and Bobbi Cooke. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 1pm (CT), with visitation two hours prior to services at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Eagle Creek Cemetery in Knox. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family for the purchase of a headstone.
