Obituary for Margaret Ann Stryck
Margaret Ann Stryck, age 81, of North Judson, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2019. Margaret was born February 26, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to Aloysius and Rose Sroczynski Stryck, both deceased. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Bryan Stryck, Glenn Stryck, Dean Stryck (Lynn) and Mitchell Stryck (Lisa), Angela Stryck, Mary Stryck and Lisa Gold (Scott), great nephews, Ryan Stryck and Sam Gold. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Stryck (Anna) and Al Stryck, and a nephew, Nolan Gold. She was loved by her many cousins, her sister-in-law Anna Stryck, many friends and especially her best friend, Kodi.
Margaret was a graduate of St. Michael Catholic High School and DePaul University in Chicago. From 1956-1970, she was a Sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth, and was given the name Sister Edwardine Stryck.
She was a woman of detail and organization, working in the Business Office of DePaul University, and later as a bookkeeper for Bailey’s Discount Center as well as volunteering her bookkeeping skills for her Church, St. Thomas Aquinas.
She cared for her mother for many years and also cared for elderly neighbors in the Beverly neighborhood in Chicago. She made many friends whom she considered to be part of her family... past and current neighbors, church friends, and those she met along the way in her community. She also had several dogs over the years that she dearly loved—Teika, Teiki, Daisy, Nikko, Bailey, and Kodi; several who were rescued.
She was a woman of great faith; not only shown in her service to the church, but in her daily life as well. She is now enjoying the fulfillment of her faith in heaven. When you see daisies remember her smile.
Visitation will take place at M. C. Smith Funeral Home Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 9am (CT) until leaving for church for funeral mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church which will start at 11am (CT). Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Knox. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church or the Starke County Humane Society.
