Obituary for Ralph Allen
Ralph Allen, age 93, of Knox, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 9, 2018. Ralph was born July 12, 1925 in Knox to Mack Allen and Stella Salyer Allen, both deceased. He was a WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Allis-Chalmers after working 32 years as a machinist, was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church and an avid runner, having run the Boston Marathon twice. On June 30, 1946 he married Madeline Hatfield, she survives. Also surviving are his children, Linda Gundlach (Joe) of Florida, Kathy Johanan (Ken) of Texas and Doug Allen (Juanita) of Knox, brothers, Russell, Gerald, Floyd and Dan all of Knox, 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Rita Brettin and Nancy Binkley, sisters, Pruddy Allen, Jeweldean Allen and Lucy Webb, brothers, Coy, Homer, Ollie, Bazz, Creed and Joe, and grandchildren, Elizabeth, Paul and Jayson. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 3-7pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 1pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Rev. Kenneth Johanan, Officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox.
