Obituary for Ernest G. "Ernie" Gentry
Ernest G. “Ernie” Gentry, age 79, of Knox, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024. Ernie was born November 30, 1944 in Montgomery, Alabama to Harvey and Clara Gentry. He had worked as a truck driver most of his life and was a simple man that loved his family and especially loved being ornery and teasing his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Scarborough) Gentry, his sons, Donald Gentry of Knox, Mark Gentry (Brenda) of Knox, Richard Gentry (LaDonna) of Texas, and Tad Gentry (Janelle) of Knox, his sisters, Joann McDonald, Brenda Billsma and Deloris Jean Riker, all of Alabama, 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Clara Gentry, his sons, Scott Gentry (Monica) and Telly Gentry (Donna), a sister, Kathie Townsend and a brother, John Gentry. No services are planned at this time. M.C. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
