Obituary for Robert "Bobby" D. Gibson
Robert “Bobby” Dale Gibson, age 68 of Knox, formerly of Sergent, Kentucky, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 25, 2017. He was a graduate of Whitesburg High School, Class of ‘66. Bobby served honorably and was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a Trackman on the Railroad for over 30 years. After retirement, he was a driver for Community Services of Starke County. He was a loving husband, proud father, and devoted grandfather. Bobby will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his father- Lauvill Gibson; mother- Marie (Fields) Gibson; sisters- Ruth Marie “Lucky” Gibson, Sharon (Gibson) Lucas, Wanda Jo Gibson.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 48 years- Nancy (Roberts) Gibson; 2 daughters- Jennifer (Larry Fletcher) Emigh, Shannon “Mutt” Emigh; son- Todd (Danielle) Gibson; 14 grandchildren- Carson (Kelsey), Caleb, Kendra, Abby, Ally, Jacob, Kaden, Charlie, Kanyen, Neela, Garrison, Drew, Hunter, Josh; 3 sisters- Chris (Ed) Smith, Bernadine (Terry) Blair, DeLynn Gibson; 2 brothers- Jerry (Debbie) Gibson, Roy (Susie) Gibson; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the family of Robert.
Visitation will be held from 4 until time of memorial service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at M.C Smith Funeral Home, 153 E. Washington St., Knox, IN. Pastor Heath Hiatt officiating.
