Obituary for Joseph W. Walters
Joseph W. Walters, age 78, of Bass Lake, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020. Joseph was born March 2, 1942 at his parent’s home in Ora, Indiana. He was a Veteran retiring from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Monterey American Legion, the Knox Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. On August 24, 1964 he married Judy Chapman, she survives. Also surviving are his children, Kelly J. Walters (Janine) of Leesburg, IN, Lynn Darda (Chris) of Knox, and Duane Walters (Denise) of Nappanee, IN, brothers, Rutherford Byron Walters II (Donna) of Ora, IN, and Lawrence Walters of Tennessee, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rutherford Byron Walters and Carolyn Seljan Walters, a sister, Gayhart Blanton, and a grandson, Duane Morris Walters. Graveside services, with military honors, will take place at Alexander Heinemann Cemetery in Ora, Indiana on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 1:00pm (CT). The M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox is in charge of arrangements.
