Obituary for Robert E. "Bob" Ryder
Robert E. “Bob” Ryder, age 86, of Knox, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017 at his home. Bob was born November 4, 1930 in Vincennes, Indiana to Darwin and Cecilia (Whetstine) Ryder, both deceased. He was a retired millwright from Inland Steel. He loved the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter. On November 3, 2002 he married Joan (Shannon), she survives. Also surviving are his children, John Ryder (Rita) of LaPorte, IN, Joy Davison (Ken) of St. Joseph, MI, Jack Ryder of Springtown, TX, Jeanne Gumm (Ken) of LaPorte, IN, step-children, Eugena Marsh (Mike) of Knox and Leslie “Bub” Kroft (Michelle) of Knox, brothers and sisters, Jim Ryder (Dee) of Vincennes, IN, Dick Ryder (Joann) of Vincennes, IN, Susan Kratochvil of Tucson, AZ, Judy Ryder of Tucson, AZ, Rose Marie Bauer of Vincennes, IN and John Ryder (Ev) of Vincennes, IN, 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Henry, a sister, Margaret Kimmel and a brother, Darwin Ryder. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 2:00pm (CT), with visitation starting at 10:00am at M.C. Smith Funeral Home, 153 E. Washington St., Knox, IN. Interment is private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stillwell Rod and Gun Club or Riley's Hospital for Children.
