Obituary for William G. "Bill" Dickson
William G. "Bill" Dickson, age 88, of Knox, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 at his home. Bill was born September 16, 1925 in Ober, IN to George W. and Dora Eskridge Dickson, both deceased. He was an Army Veteran having received a Purple Heart for his service in WWII. He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and had served as Mayor of the city of Knox. He was an active member of the Eagle Creek Church, serving on the board of directors and as a Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of the Knox American Legion, Knox VFW and the Knox Masonic Lodge. On June 11, 1949 he married Gloria Golding, she survives. Also surviving are his children, Marsha Marshall (Clarence) of Knox, Sandy Wagner (Kenneth) of Knox, and Nancy McIntire of Bardstown, KY, his grandchildren, Chris Marshall (Kellie), Kevin Wagner (Erica), Tara Williams (Jeff), Malisa Marshall, Kim Wagner and Shawn McIntire (Wendy), and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Taylor Wagner, and brothers and sisters, Florence Romine, Frances Scott, Margaret Pitrowski, Loretta Earnest, Pete Dickson, Stacy Dickson, and Jack Dickson. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 4-8pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11am (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Community Services of Starke County Council on Aging.
