Obituary for William D. "Bill" Carter
William D. “Bill” Carter, age 76, of Knox, passed away at his home January 1, 2021. Bill was born June 30, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army, he was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, he loved old cars and had built a rat-rod, and especially loved spending time with his family. On August 26, 1963 he married Diana Cochran, she survives. Also surviving are two sons, Christopher C. Carter of Florida and Michael Carter of Knox, a sister, Brenda Owens of North Carolina, a brother, Tommy Keller of North Carolina, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Crum and Opam Carter Crum, a son, William J. Carter, and a brother, Jerry Keller.
Visitation will be Monday, January 4, 2021 from 4-8pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 11am (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow, with military graveside services, at Holy Cross Cemetery in Hamlet.
