Obituary for Wiliam "Bill" Augle
William H. “Bill” Augle, age 73, of Knox, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022. He was the devoted husband of Debi Augle (nee Welch), loving father of Kelly Flynn (Patrick) and Bill Augle, cherished stepfather of Jennifer Mori (Steve), and the late Billy Welch. Grandfather of Nick, Cole and Jack Augle, Sinead and Sean Flynn, Dillan and Peyton Mori, and great grandfather of Delilah Augle. He was the devoted son of the late Edmund “Sonny” Augle Sr. and Shirley Augle (nee Spangler), loving brother of Edmund Augle Jr. (Mary), Dale Augle (Kathy) and Theresa Kopchick (Bill). A very fun uncle to his nieces and nephews.
Bill had been a sergeant in the U.S. Army and received the Purple Heart twice during the Vietnam War for his heroic actions despite being injured himself. He then continued his life of service to others as a Chicago Police Officer with a long list of accolades until he retired. He enjoyed living on Bass Lake where he golfed and spent time at the Hacker Shack, taking his pontoon for a cruise and his golf cart on adventures.
A celebration of Bill’s life will take place Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 12noon to 2pm (CT) with military honor guard services at 2pm at M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox. Inn lieu of flowers, memorials to the VFW Post 748 would be appreciated
