Virginia Neace, of Knox, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026. She was born in West Virginia on August 17, 1942, and lived a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and unconditional love.
Virginia shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Jerry Neace. They were married on April 11, 1959, and together built a home filled with love and cherished traditions.
Above all else, Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by her sons, Kenny Neace of Knox and Vincent Neace of Culver; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Terry) Fletcher of Knox, Jessica McCan of Knox, Jeri (Matt) Brewer of North Judson, Amanda Neace, Adam (Dakota) Neace, Alan (Alison) Neace; her 17 great-grandchildren, Kaylee (Colton), Chase, Maggie, Heisman, Quinn, Jentry, Emmett, Ellis, Avery, Davis, Remi, Ensley, Autumn, Gracie, Kinzlee, Bellamy, and Artemis; and her treasured great-great-granddaughter, Daisy.
She also spent many years in the hollers of West Virginia with her siblings, Wilber, Linda, Dorothy, James, Billie, Nancy, Mary, Sam, Gary David, and Joe Trent.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Mamie and Paul Trent; her beloved son, Robert Neace; her daughter-in-law, Lori Neace; and her cherished grandchildren, Nolan Neace and Angela Neace.
To her grandchildren, she was affectionately known as "Red Hair Grandma," a nickname inspired by her beautiful fiery red hair and the vibrant spirit that matched it. She loved dancing to bluegrass music, cooking big pots of beans and cornbread for her family, playing baseball in the yard with her grandchildren, spending hours talking with friends and family on her front porch, and taking great pride in caring for her home. Her happiest moments were the ones spent surrounded by the people she loved most.
Though she will be deeply missed, her love will continue to live on in every story shared on the porch, every family gathering, every bluegrass song, and every game played in the backyard. The memories she created and the love she gave will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Virginia's life on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at MC Smith Funeral Home in Knox, Indiana.
