Obituary for Thomas L. "Tom" Parker
Thomas L. "Tom" Parker, age 75, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Knox, Indiana on August 20, 1940, to Forrest and Frances Parker. He is survived by his wife, Ki Yong Parker of Las Vegas, a daughter, Kelli Parker Sachs of Sugarland, Texas, his mother, Frances Parker of LaPorte, Indiana, and a brother, Fred Parker of Boca Raton, Florida. His father Forrest Parker has preceded him in death in April of 1975. Tom graduated from Knox High School in 1957. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne Division. Tom moved to Las Vegas at a very early age, and became an ICON in the Gambling and Casino business. He lived there until the time of his death. Whatever his job, he did it with passion. He loved to entertain and tell stories, and was a World Class Chef. Another passion was his love for the many Great Danes he has had over the past 40 years. The family will honor Tom's las request, that his body be returned to Knox, and be buried next to his Aunt Maggie in the Parker Family Plot, whom he admired and loved when he was a little boy.....and who taught him, like many children, to say their prayers at night: Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake. I pray the Lord my soul to take. The family will conduct a private graveside service at a later date.
