Obituary for Sofia Iovu

Sofia Bogdan Iovu, born on January 12, 1950, in Mediaș, Romania, passed away on March 18, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was a woman of deep faith, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a warm soul who brought comfort and hope to those who knew her.

In 1970, she married and began her family. In 1976, she dedicated her life to God through baptism in the Seventh-day Adventist Church—a faith that guided and sustained her throughout her life.

Sofia was a strong, energetic, independent, and determined woman. Even in difficult times, she never gave up but persevered and worked hard, always striving to provide a better life for her loved ones.

Her life was marked by love and sacrifice for her family. She lived and worked in Romania, Italy, Mexico, and the United States, always staying close to those she loved and offering her constant support.

Sofia was known for her generosity and willingness to help others, giving with an open heart. She found joy in cooking for her family, gathering people around the table, and creating moments of closeness and connection.

She loved people and the simple joys of life—laughter, friendship, hymns of praise, and time spent together. She was forgiving and kind, never holding onto resentment and always ready to ask for forgiveness with sincerity.

She had a deep love for nature and the mountains, which reminded her of her faith and the words of the psalm: “I lift up my eyes to the mountains… my help comes from the Lord.”

In her later years, she lived in North Judson, Indiana, where she continued to live with dignity, faith, and love for her family.

Sofia is survived by her daughter, Simona, and son-in-law, Gabriel; and her grandchildren, Christian and Marcus, as well as all those who knew and cherished her.

Sofia Bogdan leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and strength, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

She will be forever remembered and never forgotten!
