Obituary for Robert E. Tingley
Robert E. Tingley, age 82, of Plymouth, formerly of Knox, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023. Bob was born August 5, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to Ernest and Lora Lee (Gill) Tingley, both deceased. He had worked for many years at Rockwell Windows, and was an avid ham radio operator, call letters KC9ISI, and belonged to the Starke County Amateur Radio Club, was very involved in local band competitions, loved western movies with John Wayne, and was a Big Foot enthusiast. He is survived by his children, Christine Smith (Rick) of Plymouth, Ric Bowen Tingley of Plymouth, Matthew Bowen Tingley of Plymouth, John Martin of Laporte, Michael Martin (Tammy) of Laporte, Jennifer Hibner (Tony) of Michigan City, and Haley McFarland of Knox, a sister, Mary Lou Gross of Lowell, a brother, Jim Gleason (Tricia) of Indianapolis, 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Emma Louise Tingley, who preceded him in death on October 14, 2014, a son, Scott Tingley, a brother, William Patrick Gleason and a sister, Carolyn Pavich. A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 2-4pm (CT) at Knox United Methodist Church. M.C. Smith Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
