Obituary for Paul K. Boender
Paul K. Boender, age 77, of Knox, IN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2023. Beloved husband to Barbara L. Boender for 45 years who recently passed away on January 8, 2023. Loving stepfather of Joan Grace (Ronald) Godlewski, Martin “Butch” Heintz, and Cheryl Heintz. Cherished grandfather of Ryan Prondzinski, Benjamin Godlewski, and the late Eric Prondzinski. Dear brother to the late John (Nancy) Boender, Carl (Annette) Boender, Tres (Ken) VerSteeg. Much loved uncle to many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gertrude Boender.
Paul proudly served in the United States Coast Guard after high school which showed in his love for water and a collection of lighthouses. Paul worked as a personnel manager for Kickert Bus Lines for approximately 40 years. He had great devotion and compassion for every person he oversaw. After retiring from Kickert Bus Lines, Paul worked in the transportation industry for a short time with the same commitment to his job. Paul enjoyed the hobby of fixing up antique cars back to their original state, most notably a Model A Ford and a 1953 GMC pick-up truck. He enjoyed living “lake life” on Bass Lake with his bride, Barb, which reflected in the many memories made at Bass Lake with his family and friends. Paul’s selfless giving demonstrated his love for his Savior, Jesus Christ, who selflessly gave His life for Paul and for all of us! Paul was loved by family and many friends and will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held on April 15, 2023 at the Knox United Methodist Church at 11am (CST), with visitation one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions in his name to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
