Norma Jean Tippy, age 93, of Knox (Bass Lake), passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026. She was born January 21, 1933 in Hammond, Indiana to Stephen and Marie (Rybicki) Teibel, both deceased. As a young girl, and into adulthood, she was a wonderful athlete and especially excelled in softball and golf. She grew up working in the family restaurant, Teibel’s, in Schererville, Indiana until she was married. She had also helped with her husband’s business, Tippy’s Big Top Tires. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and was very dedicated in her faith. The thing that gave her the most joy was spending time with her family and lifelong friends. On November 25, 1954 she married Robert P. Tippy, he preceded her in death on January 30, 2022. She is survived by her two children, Paulette Gibbs (Gordon Quisenberry) of Greencastle, Indiana and Thomas J. Tippy (the late Cynthia) of Plymouth, Indiana, her grandchildren, Daniel Baidinger (Julie), Patrick Baidinger (Courtney), Mitchell Baidinger (Margot) and Thomas Tippy (Stephanie), and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Teibel and a grandson, Jeff Tippy (Jessica).
Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 10, 2026, with visitation two hours prior to services, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Knox. Burial will follow at Bass Lake Cemetery in Knox.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House of Indianapolis or to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the dedicated staff of Sunrise Assisted Living of Carmel, Indiana and the compassionate team at Compassus Hospice, especially Chaplain Chris, and in her final hours the wonderful care provided at Northwest Health Starke Hospital by Heather, Judy, Diane and Dr. Mohamed will always be remembered by her family.
