Obituary for Michael Howard Henry
Michael Howard Henry known to many as Mike, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, in Laporte Indiana with his devoted wife by his side.
Mike was born March 2, 1947, Indianapolis, Indiana he is the son of the late Dr. Howard and Lena (Edwards) Henry.
Mike met the love of his life Nora in November 1985. They were married on November 7, 1994.
He also had a love for cars, he had owned and operated a NAPA Auto Parts Store and had worked at American Renolit in Laporte. In the summer months Mike and Nora would go to LaPorte for the car shows and parade in his 1975 black SS El Camino. He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army and loved history, if he wasn’t watching a car show on t.v., he was watching a history show. If you asked Mike about his kids and grandchildren, he would light up and show you pictures of them all and brag about them. Mike was a wonderful Grandpa.
Mike is survived by his wife, Nora Henry, and Shayla (Alonzo) Shepherd, of Sellersburg Indiana, and Lesley (Eric) Craft of Knox, Indiana who he considered his own daughters. Five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth “Betsy” Starkes of Bremen, Indiana, Patricia (Tom) Mulligan of Spooner, Wisconsin and one brother Bill (Cori) Henry of Mitchell, Indiana.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 1:30pm (CT), with visitation beginning at 11am (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox, with Pastor Jim Pradke officiating the service. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox, Indiana, where military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post 92 and VFW Post 748.
