Obituary for Louise Rubbi Williams
Louise Rubbi Williams, age 88, of Knox, passed away at home surrounded by family on February 7th . 2021 after a lengthy illness. Born at Bass Lake Indiana on July 17, 1932, Louise was known as one of the original “Ladies of the Lake”
Louise met the love of her life Alton at the lake and they were married in Hamlet, Indiana on November 29, 1952.
Louise played a big part early in the family owned business known as Alt’s Discount Store, Alt’s True Value Hardware and The Shore Room (Now Habour House).
Louise was proceeded in death by her daughter Julie, her loving husband Alton Williams, sisters- Lucia and Emily, brothers-Edward and Nick and her granddogs-Bindy and Roxy.
She is survived by her son Tony, grandchildren-Amanda, Lindsey, Michaela and Anthony, older sister Phylis, her longtime companion Richard “Dick” Elam, her dearest lifetime friend Janet Palmer and her caretaker and family friend Delia Copariu.
Louise had many passions, some most notable were sewing, doll collecting and repair, and most recently a published author.
She had a deep passion for Bass Lake as a whole and was pivotal in the request of Bass Lake State Beach becoming Starke County owned. With her companion Dick, they had great interest in the Starke County Historical Society.
Services for Louise have been requested to be private. In Lieu of visitation or flowers, please consider mailing donations to one the following – Starke County Scholarship Foundation, Starke County Historical Society for Bass Lake or VNA Hospice of Valparaiso. M.C. Smith Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
