Obituary for John H. Van Vleet
John H. Van Vleet, age 67, of Knox, passed away Friday, March 06, 2015 at his home. John was born April 16, 1947 in Gary, Indiana. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army and had retired as a switchman from the EJ&E Railroad. He is survived by his children, Michelle Pendergrass (Phil) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Johnny Van Vleet (Missy) of Hobart, IN, and Susan Bishop (James) of Knox, IN, his grandchildren, Jessica Keithley (Duane), Mike Pendergrass (Elizabeth), Zane Pendergrass, Aiden Bishop, Clayton Bishop, Madyson Bishop, and Mason Bishop, great grandchildren, Aiden and Coy Keithley, brothers and sisters, Norma Schimmel of Wisconsin, Twyla Leeper of South Haven, IN, James Van Vleet of Michigan City, IN, Betty Haas of Michigan, and William Van Vleet of Merrillville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane (Dranchak) Van Vleet, and his parents, George and Kathryn (Higgins) Van Vleet, and six brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be Monday, March 9, 2015 at 7:00pm (CT), with visitation three hours prior to services, at M.C. Smith Funeral Home, 153 E. Washington St., Knox, IN.
