Obituary for Jean Prchlik
Jean A. Prchlik, Loving and faithful servant of God, died in peaceful sleep, May 17th, 2013 at Riverside Health Care Center in Missoula, Montana. She was 95 years young. The 6th of 10 children, Jean was born March 23, 1918 in Chicago, to Polish immigrants, Albert and Josephine (Drwal) Mlekodaj, both deceased. When a young child, her family moved to the northern Indiana farming community of Knox where she lived until 2006. She then moved to Missoula to live with her daughter and son in law, Pat and Roger Wegner. Jean was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to so many. A devout Catholic, Jean lived her faith in service to others through her many parish church ministries and community volunteer work in Knox. Always a true "farm girl" at heart, Jean so enjoyed being outdoors in the sun, tending her garden and yard. A weed never missed her eye. She loved playing cards and board games. She shared many a lively pinochle game with her husband and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Pat Wegner (Roger) of Missoula, Montana, and a brother, Leo Mlekodaj (Hanna) of Knox, and 20 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Prchlik, a son, Joseph C. Prchlik, and a daughter, Pamela Prchlik Abbott. Visitation will be Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 4-8pm, with a wake service at 4:30pm at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Friday, May 24, 2013 at 10am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Hamlet. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Knox-Center Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. "Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love." Mother Teresa.
