Obituary for James H. McIntire, Sr.
James "Jim" H. McIntire, Sr. "Indiana Milkman" March 18, 1931 - March 22, 2014 James H. McIntire, Sr., 83, of Knox, passed away on March 22, 2014 at the LaPorte IU Hospital. He was born March 18, 1931 in Knox, to the late William F. McIntire, Sr. and Alma Viola Burger McIntire. Jim was also preceded in death by his wife, Etta Jane (King), 3 brothers, Melvin Sr., Robert Sr., and William Jr., and a grandson, Eddie Jaehn. Jim drove semi truck for 38 years, beginning with a 1954 Ford called "Dancing Eyes", hauling Bordens Milk from Hammond to Warsaw and Knox. In 1976 he began hauling steel, until Sept. 30, 1993, when he hung up his keys to the truck. Jim is survived by 3 siblings, Joseph "Joe" McIntire Sr. (Dorothy), Viola Pawlik (Alvin), and Kay Toth (Dan). He is also survived by a daughter, Sandy Larracuenta (Jon), and two sons, Jim "Cricket" McIntire Jr. (Debbie), and John McIntire, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 1:00pm (CT), with visitation two hours prior to services, at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Starke County Community Services or Golden Living Center of Knox.
