Obituary for James F. "Jim" Wheeler
James F. "Jim" Wheeler, age 81, of Knox, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014. Jim was born November 22, 1932 in Puyallup, Washington to Claude F. and Vivian I. (Manley) Wheeler, both deceased. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy, he retired from American Airlines as an International Captain, he owned and operated the Wheeler Airport in Knox, and had recently received a Master Pilot Certificate for 50 years of safe flying, he had attended Graceland University and the University of Washington, had been President of the Indiana School Board Assoc., as well as, the Knox School Board, and was an Elder in the Community of Christ Church of Galien, Michigan. He is survived by his wife, Gail I. (Twilligear) Wheeler of Knox, children, James "Jay" Wheeler, Jr. (Delana) of Dayton, OH, Dr. Wendianne Wilson of Des Moines, IA, Michael Wheeler of Lake Elsinore, CA, and Samuel Wheeler (Natasha) of St. Louis, MO, sisters, Claudia Bootsma of Seattle, WA, Shawna Kerran of Manassas, VA, a brother, Carl Wheeler of Auburn, WA, step brother, Larry Dobson of Seattle, WA and step sister Leanne Sowers of Lakewood, WA, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014 from 4-8pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 12, 2014 at 11:00am (CT) at the Community Church of Seventh Day Adventists in Knox. Interment will be private.
