Obituary for James E. Demis Sr.
James E. Demis, Sr., age 80, of Knox, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 in Eupora, Mississippi. He was born May 26, 1943 in Gary, Indiana to George and Edna Hyndman Demis, both deceased. Jim loved to tinker and could fix or build just about anything whether mechanical or construction related. He passed these skills along to his two sons, having built dune buggies, repaired and maintained semi-trucks, and even built several homes together from the ground up. He loved old cars and was especially fond of his latest find, a Model-A Ford. He had worked for many years in the Ford Stamping Plant, but retired after several years as an owner/operator in his own trucking business. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian Kay Demis in August of 2020 and was remarried in January of 2021 to Diana Dismore Demis, she survives. Also surviving are his sons, James Demis Jr. (Barbara) of Hamlet and Robert Demis of Plymouth, sisters, Shirley Hall of Texas and Linda Newcomb of Hobart, IN, five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
