> Hobert (Scottie) M. Scott was born in Hardin County, TN to Eli and Ruth Scott on June 1, 1933. Scottie was raised in Savannah, TN. He passed away in Knox on March 7, 2018, while preparing for a visit from his family from Texas. Scottie joined the US Army in 1950 and served in Korea, Vietnam, Germany, Ft. Sill and back home to Ft. Hood, Texas to retire in 1976. He earned numerous military awards to include gold and silver stars. After retiring from the military, he worked at Central Texas College as the kitchen supervisor until retiring in 1992.
> He married June "Martha" Scott in 1958 and they raised 4 children, Denise Colemire (Rodney), Sally Scott and Hobert (Hobie) Scott, all from Killeen, TX and Veronica Scruggs (Michael) from Chesapeake, VA.
> Martha passed in 1998 and Scottie fell in love with and married Norma King June 10, 2000 in Harker Heights, TX. After residing in Harker Heights and Killeen until 2016, they decided to retire in Knox, IN.
> Scottie has been a member of the Knights of Columbus in Killeen and Harker Heights, TX since 1969 and K of C in Knox since moving here, VFW ( Killeen, TX and Knox), DAV (Harker Heights, TX), CTC Retirees Association, and an active member of the American Legion, Post #131 in Knox. He had recently been attending St. Thomas Catholic Church in Knox and past attended at both St. Joseph's in Killeen and St. Paul's Catholic Church in Harker Heights, TX.
> Scottie is survived by his loving wife Norma, 4 children, 5 grandchildren (John, Danielle, Katie, Juade and Taylor, and 4 great-granddaughters (Victoria, Isabella, Michaela and Evy). Also surviving Scottie is his close family here in Knox: Gary, Belinda, Taylor and the rest of the "Knox" family that was so dear and close to him.
> He also has numerous family members (aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins) in the Savannah, Tennessee area that will dearly miss "Meredith" (as they call him).
> He is preceded in death by parents, 6 brothers, 1 sister, first wife Martha, granddaughter Nicole, and grandson Michael D.
> An informal Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion, Post #131 during the Fish Fry on Friday, March 9th at 4:30 PM and a formal, military style Memorial Service at the American Legion Post #131 on Saturday, March 10th at noon. There will be a Memorial Service held in the Fort Hood, Texas area at a date yet to be determined.
