Harrison Ray Fields, age 81, of North Judson, Indiana passed away January 30, 2025. He was born September 29, 1943, in Wooton, Kentucky to Dan and Sallie Browning Fields. On October 19, 1963, in North Judson, he married Shirley Pingel, she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Paula Voss (William) and a son, Jeff Fields (Susan), granddaughters, Ashlie Upchurch (Nathan) and Alison Fields, and a sister, Evelyn Dickerson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rose Pulliam.
Harrison retired after 30 years at the North Judson Post Office as a letter carrier. He was involved in many community organizations including the Starke County Zoning Board, California Township Advisory Board, Round Lake Cemetery Board, 50-year member of the Knox American Legion and 40 & 8, Starke County Democrat Central Committee, Starke County Election Board, North Judson Town Police Auxiliary, and the U.S. Army Reserve.
Harrison and Shirley enjoyed many summers in upper Wisconsin, fishing and gardening, wing Wednesdays at the casino and fish fry Fridays. Curly the barber was his favorite fishing buddy.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00am (CT), with visitation two hours prior to services, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Judson, Indiana with Pastor Dan Speckhard officiating. Burial and military honors will follow at Round Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Round Lake Cemetery or to the St. Peter Lutheran Church. M.C. Smith Funeral Home was trusted with his arrangements.
