Obituary for Gene R. Pilsitz
Gene R. Pilsitz, age 78, of Knox, Indiana passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 in his favorite Lazy Boy recliner. Gene was born February 16, 1938 in Gary, Indiana to Charles and Eva Schutz Pilsitz. He was a graduate of Dyer High School. For most of his life he was a steel expeditor for Region Freight Lines. He retired to Knox to live the rest of his life in a home surrounded by woods, watching birds and deer. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Richard Huseman. He leaves behind his wife, Patricia Burge-Pilsitz, daughters, Beth Froedge (Carl) of Crown Point, Cindy Daugherty (Rod) of Terre Haute, Mary Huseman (the late Rich) of Merrillville, step-children, Ronda Dotter (Dave) of East Hazelcrest, IL and Corey Pace (Candi) of Miller, MO, sisters, Audrey Shrake (the late Marvin) of Chicago, Donna Richwalski (Martin) of St. Johns, Nancy Dancho and Karen Brite (Mel) both of Florida, and grandchildren, Matthew Froedge, Danielle Bennington (Ben), Nikki Daugherty and Jessica Dotter. A memorial service will take place Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 6:00pm (ct), with visitation two hours prior, at M.C. Smith Funeral Home, 153 E. Washington St., Knox, IN 46534. (574)772-4211. Gene was a great son, brother, father, husband and friend. He was extremely ornery and had a dry sense of humor. He was ready to help anyone who needed it and will be greatly missed.
