Obituary for Eugenia "Jean" Stuber
Eugenia “Jean” Stuber, age 95, formerly of Bass Lake, passed away Monday, September 21, 2020. Jean grew up in Chicago, and attended Mercy High School and later had worked as a secretary for the University of Chicago. In 1947 she married the love of her life, Jerome “Jerry” Stuber. Her family started vacationing at Bass Lake in 1959, Jean and Jerry built a home there and became full time residents in 1983. She enjoyed boating, watching the kids and grandkids waterski, and just looking out at the lake. Jean was known for cooking for family and friends and baking wonderful cookies and brownies. Her favorite activity was having long conversations with family, friends and neighbors.
Jean is survived by her children, Peter Stuber (the late Margaret), Paul Stuber (Bonnie) and Eva Selep (John), grandchildren, Paula Gavin (Joel), Leann Stuber (Andrew Ledet), Michael Selep, Steven Selep and Jean Selep, and great grandchildren, Christina and Ryan Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry and a grandson, William Stuber. Private family services will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Community Services of Starke County.
