Ellen A. Dodge, age 78, of Culver, formerly of Knox, passed away December 6, 2024. Ellen was born August 14, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois to Carl and Anna (Simetz) Reinhard. She had a Biology Degree from Purdue University and a Masters of Library Science from IUPUI in 1999. She had worked as a lab tech in research and hospital laboratories before raising her three kids. She has worked 17 years at the Starke County Public Library as a Reference Librarian, Technology Librarian and later the Library Director, before retiring in 2011. She was a very active person and outside of her volunteer activities and being an active member of her church, she had several hobbies including; reading, sewing, knitting, gardening, cooking, technology, weather, coloring and biology. She thoroughly enjoyed helping others, learning about new technology and her work with the library. She also loved her time living at the Maria Center in Donaldson, Indiana. She was a loving mother, sister and aunt and is survived by her three children, Briony Yocum (William), Timothy Dodge (Jackie) and Mattew Dodge, her grandchildren, Aidan Yocum, Jacob Dodge and Henry Dodge, and three sisters, Jan Ledford, Lois Travis and Fay Hett. Donations in her memory may be made to the Starke County Public Library System Endowment Fund. A memorial mass will take place at 2pm (CT) on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Knox. M.C. Smith Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
