Obituary for Edna M. Gidney
Edna M. Gidney, age 92, of Westville, Indiana passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 at her home. Edna was born June 1, 1931 in Salyersville, Kentucky to Clark and Elizabeth Wireman, both deceased. She was a long-time and faithful member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Knox. On October 27, 1976 she married William “Bill” Gidney, he preceded her in death on September 5, 2023. She is survived by her children, Dana A. Deerberg of Wheatfield, Anthony B. Deerberg (Sue) of Laporte, Kema D. Deerberg Justice (Henry) of Westville, Martin K. Deerberg (Kasia) of Germany, Billy Gidney (Charlene) of Washington, Indiana and John C. Gidney (Susan) of Florida, a brother, Kenneth R. Wireman (Val) of Lafayette, Indiana and many grand, great grand, and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Gregory A. Deerberg, brothers, Clyde Wireman (Barb), Lewis Wireman (Grace), sisters, Nita M. Barkley, Geneva Bradley (Willis) and Lilah Leigh. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 12noon (CT), with visitation one hour prior to services at New Hope Baptist Church in Knox. M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox is handling arrangements.
