Obituary for Dorothy Belle Schulz
Dorothy was born in North Judson, Indiana on March 28, 1935. She entered Heaven’s gates on August 1, 2016.
Dorothy was well known for her cooking, baking and love for others. Her compassion to serve others before self, and love others unconditionally personified a Christ-like example of the Godly woman she was.
Dorothy had an unwavering faith in God. She attended Heritage Baptist Church. Over the years, she was involved in many different ministries. Always willing to use the gifts that the Lord had given her, whether it was baking cookies for VBS, making baked goods for a fundraiser, cooking meals for shut-ins, or helping set up and cook for funeral dinners.
Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, John L. Schulz. She was also predeceased by her sister Rose Koenig, and brother Robert Surma, Dorothy is survived by her sister Beverly J. Casey, three daughters: Debbie Jernas and her husband Ed, Dawn Cole and her husband Roger, Diane Solberg and her husband Bruce. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jayme Goetz and her husband Bob, Jon Jernas and his wife Alesha, Zachary Cole, Lacey Cole, Tyler Solberg and Tanner Solberg. She had five great-grandchildren, Samantha Goetz, Brandon Goetz, Mason Jernas, Layla Agnew & Tate Solberg.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm (CT) at MC Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following day on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 10:00am (CT) at the Heritage Baptist Church in Knox.
