Obituary for Dorothy B. Kawaguchi
Dorothy B. Kawaguchi, age 89, of Noblesville, Indiana, formerly of Knox, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. Dorothy was born January 10, 1925 in Lawrence, South Carolina to Ellis and Mary (Reece) Bible, both deceased. She was proud to have been a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II, and had been a guest speaker on that topic at Grissom Air Force Base and High Schools in the Kokomo area, she was an accomplished author having published several books, and had been an Eppie Award finalist. She married Robert M. Kawaguchi on October 4, 1944 in Mississippi, he preceded her in death on March 21, 2009. She is survived by her children, Robert Dee Kawaguchi (Jean) of Knox, Shirley Ann Winter of Noblesville, Gloria J. Ballard (Dick) of Knox, Teresa L. Vallicelli (Rich) of Knox, and James D. Kawaguchi (Lisa) of Fishers, 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters. Visitation will be Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 12noon to 4:00pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, January 5, 2015 at 10:00am (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Fletcher Cemetery in Hamlet.
