Obituary for Donald Eugene Doyle II
Donald Eugene Doyle II, 60, of North Judson, IN, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023. He was born to the late Donald E. Doyle and Loretta J. Doyle (Halte) of Gary, IN. He is survived by his loving wife: Rhonda S. Doyle (Edmonds) of North Judson; his beloved children: Roshelle Kramer (Doyle) of Lakeland, FL and Donald Doyle III also of North Judson; his 3 cherished grandchildren: Madison Reeder, Cody Doyle and Carter Stotler; his 2 surviving siblings, James Doyle of Lucca, Italy and Linda Dutcher (Doyle) of Punta Gorda, FL; his dearly departed sister Donna Doyle of Gary, IN; an abundance of much-loved in-laws and numerous adored nieces and nephews.
Donald was born on May 27, 1962 and raised in Gary, IN and attended Calumet High School. Donald was a hard worker at the very young age of 16 when he started his lifelong career with Laborers International Union Local 81 as a laborer working his way up to the executive committee before 19 years of age. He then served as a well highly respected Vice President & Field Rep on the Board of Directors for the Union prior to his retirement. During his Union career, one of his proudest achievements that he initiated and established was the D.A.D. 's Day, (Dollars Against Diabetes) of NW Indiana because his father in-law was a diabetic. D.A.D. 's day is still currently a Union tradition and has donated over $50 million dollars to the Diabetes Research Institute, in Miami, Florida. He was also an honorary Deputy Sheriff for the Lake County Sheriff’s Department for over 20 years in recognition for his dedication and many contributions to the Lake and Porter County communities.
Donald was a dedicated fishing enthusiast, loved his family, bicycling, target shooting, exercise, music, reading, and learning every piece of historic fact he could get his hands on. He enjoyed life, friends, and his family. He delighted in connecting and sharing stories with others, whether they were family, friends, or strangers, and hearing their stories in return. Donald was special to many people and will be greatly missed by all of them.
Friends may meet with the family on Friday February 10, 2023, for a Celebration of the Life from 11:00am-2:00p.m. at CENTRAL CHURCH OF GOD 5120 Central Avenue, Portage.
