Obituary for Christopher Nowaczyk
Christopher Nowaczyk, age 63, of Knox, formerly of Lansing, IL, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Diane Kozdras Nowaczyk, children, Laura Cannon (Dennis), Jennifer McDowell (Robert) and Catherine Nowaczyk, grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, and Jacob Cannon, brother, Tim Nowaczyk (Nora), along with many nieces and nephews. Christopher was preceded in death by his first wife, Theresa, son, Michael, and parents, Raymond and Phyllis. Friends may visit with the family at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL, on Sunday, July 7, from 1-7pm. Visitation will also take place Monday, July 8, at the M.C. Smith Funeral Home from 10am to 12noon. A funeral mass will take place at 12:30 pm at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 406 E. Washington St., Knox, cremation will follow. Chris was a 30 year career Firefighter with the Village of Lansing, having retired as a Lieutenant. He was a member of the Professional Firefighters Assoc. Chris and his wife Diane moved to Knox (Bass Lake) where he served as coordinator of the Neighborhood Watch, board member of the Bass Lake Homeowners Assoc. and Past President of the Bass Lake Festival. He also was a coordinator of Food Services for Camp Quality for several years. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lansing Fire Dept., 19300 Burnham Ave., Lansing, IL 60438, the Bass Lake Fire Dept., 7225 S. US 35, Knox, IN 46534, or the Bass Lake Neighborhood Watch, PO Box 261, Knox, IN 46534.
