Obituary for Carris Jean Lucas
Carris Jean Lucas, age 92, of Knox, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016. Carris was born September 2, 1923 in Shelbyville, Indiana to Wallace and Vivian Theobald, both deceased. She had taught for many years for the Knox Community Schools, retiring in 1985 and was a member of the Knox United Methodist Church, and a long time member of Tri Kappa. On January 8, 1944 she married James Lucas, he survives. Also surviving is their son, Merlyn Lucas (Susan) of Kalamazoo, Michigan, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a brother, Keith (Janice) Theobald of Shelbyville, Indiana. She was preceded in death by a son, Marcus, a daughter, Carolyn, and sisters Wanda (George) Hohenberger and Avonelle (Wayne) Branson. Visitation will be Monday, June 6, 2016 from 4-7pm (ct) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 10:00am (ct) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northern Indiana Community Foundation James and Carris Lucas Scholarship Fund.
