Obituary for Betty J. Short
Betty J. Short, age 82, of North Judson, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016. Betty was born February 24, 1934 in Lake County, IN to Adam Earl and Rosabelle (Carlson) Solomon, both deceased. She was a Bookkeeper for her husband and son’s construction business. She was on the Round Lake Cemetery Board Association for many years. She enjoyed gardening and canning, She loved fine dining and traveling around with her husband Ray. She enjoyed selling Sarah Coventry jewelry, spending time with her grandchildren, fishing, watching birds and taking care of her flowers. She married her husband Ray, December 6, 1952, he preceded her in death. They had four children William Short he preceded her, Sandra Short of North Judson, Susan Himes of North Judson, and Rebecca Short she preceded her. Betty had a brother and sister, Phyllis Joyce Podell-Vail, Jim Solomon both preceded. 3 grandchildren, Adam Fisher, Cody Himes and Devan Himes. 2 great-grandchildren, Lyla Fisher and Eli Fisher.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 3-7pm (CT) at the M.C. Smith Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Monday, September 19, 2016 11:00am (CT) at the Knox United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at the Round Lake Cemetery.
