Obituary for Benjamin Ross Deming
Benjamin Ross Deming, age 38, of Knox, passed away on June 17, 2024. Ben was born March 28, 1986, to David Deming SR., and JoAnn (Bailey) Deming. Benjamin was as good as they came, and loved by all who knew him. He had the heart of a healer, an adventurous spirit, and a quick wit humor. He often said that it was better to be a jack of all trades rather than a master of one, and that’s what he was. A jack of all trades, having whatever snippets of knowledge and skills he needed to help in any situation.
He saw the world for what it was…beautiful. Constantly spending his time outdoors, either fishing or hiking, finding weird bugs and plants, and enjoying nature. He was a true gentle giant, with strong hands and a soft heart. He wouldn’t hesitate to offer kind words (as few as they were), but he spoke volumes through his actions. Every gesture he poured his love into, took every opportunity to lend a hand or a tool.
He rode enough miles to circle the world, but always stayed close to home in case he was needed. More importantly, he wasn’t afraid to love. He loved wholly and completely without failure or hesitance, and that was most evident with his nephews. He adored them as if they were his own and they adored Uncle Ben just as much. He was the light that warmed every heart he shone on.
He lived by example, always patient, always kind, always giving. His steady presence was a comfort, his soft words a healing balm to wounded souls. He never gave up. Always worked to make it work, and make it work right. He was stubborn enough to see any obstacle through, and stubborn enough to make a few obstacles of his own.
He cherished each day, made each moment special, and kept those memories close. Every trinket, a reminder to him of all the moments that made up the picture of his life.
So, in his honor, we will live each moment as he would have. To the absolute fullest.
